You can make an offer to pay. if you are short on money you can make an offer of 10% of what you owe. and you do this 3 times in writing if they don’t accept the offer the first time, and they don’t accept any of the 3 notices you sent them, when you go back to court you can state this to the judge that you offered 10% of the debt because thats all you could afford and they refused my offer. The judge may ask the creditor the ones pursuing the debt, why did they not accept it and is 10% better than nothing. In a friends case they were made to accept the 10% payment. You can even do that with a Large tax debt but you have to put it in writing and send via registered post as proof of posting.
