I did mine Via Post. I downloaded the BC forms from their web site and sent them off with a payment option included. e.g. CC in my case.
I am in WA so I asked for a Birth Information Paper.
I did the same as earlier answers Crossing out Birth Certificate and replacing with the Birth Information Paper. Don’t know if the same term is used in other states.
I received a document with Birth Information Paper stamped on it. The stamp looks consistent with the era I was born. I don’t think it was added just to fulfill my request. It is different to the BC but in the same style, typing etc.
I stated it was required for contribution to a family tree project.
It cost me the same fee as the BC.
I actually used the BC and some other documents as required ID.
I previously asked for a record of live birth and was dealt with rudely. That was many years ago and I had given up making progress on this when I found someone post elsewhere this is what they did. It worked.
